Reading multiple scales/volumes/capacities in mathsLast week, I posted a video exploring how to use Seesaw to capture evidence for moderation. In this video, I wanted to share how you can use Shadow Puppets Edu to evidence pupil's understanding of reading scales. This can be done on Seesaw, however, you will see that with Shadow Puppets you can add multiple worksheets and questions and save as one video.

Encouraging pupils to independently evidence learning for ModerationA supporter asked for any advice around moderation in Year 2. I decided to put together this quick little video showing how we've been evidencing learning through Seesaw which will be shared with the moderators to further justify our teacher assessment.

Documenting Problem Solving through Shadow Puppets EduContinuing our work with measurement in Maths, here is another activity we did recently which challenged to solve a problem in maths but document the process by recording videos explaining how they solved the problem. This idea can be easily adapted to any problem solving challenges.

Accurately measuring objects in centimetresThis week I started our unit on measuring height and length in Maths with Year 2. The first lesson looked at accurately using a ruler to measure different objects. This video explores how we effectively used technology to help us evidence the practical work we did.

create simple storyboards, timelines and ordering activities through pic collageWhen we start to use technology creatively, we unlock opportunities to enhance the whole curriculum. This video provides a step-by-step guide for how to create simple storyboards but then explores how the same idea can be adapted for ideas in maths, science, history and the rest of the curriculum.

A step-by-step guide to learning by questionsLast week, I posted a video about accessing thousands of questions through Learning by Questions for free. If you sign up for a free account, you also get a 60 day trial of the paid features which I explore in this video. It costs £200 a year (I think) but as you can see from this video, if used effectively, is well worth the money.
LBQ have also given me 200 £25 vouchers to use to buy books of their questions sets for each year group, more info here. Click the picture to access the video if you have subscribed. Click here if you need to subscribe on Facebook. |
Creating different amounts with a combination of coins and notesI thought I would share what I did with Year 2 today. We are covering Money in maths and so I used the app Pic Collage and challenged the students to try and make different amounts using different combinations of coins and notes.

Learning by Questions and Seesaw to improve reasoning across the curriculumLBQ.org is one of my favourite tools to use in class. Although it is a paid tool, you can sign up for free to access thousands of questions that link to the curriculum. This video looks at how to use these questions with Seesaw to improve oral reasoning.
